Living One More Night With The Frogs When the Lord called Moses from the burning bush, He promised Moses that there would be no mistaking the power of the Lord in this adventure. The plagues that came upon the land demonstrated that power in an awesome way. All of the plagues were interesting in their own way, however one stand out in my mind among the rest: the plagues of frogs. One reason that it stands out in my mind is that, to me, a frog is just a funny looking creature. Another reason is that Moses gave Pharaoh the choice as to when this plague would be ended. Where one or two frogs might be considered cute and funny-looking, frogs all over the land and in every place, (houses, bedrooms, beds, ovens, and kneading bowls) would be horrible! It would be an annoying, loud plague and it was up to Pharaoh when it would be over. If it had of been me, I would have said "Right Now!" But not Pharaoh. Rather, he said, "Tomorrow." Why? Why would anyone choose to live with this plague another night? It just doesn't make sense! Well, I don't know why he made his choice then, but allow me to suggest that we do the same thing today. The plagues were sent upon Egypt because Pharaoh refused to submit to God's supreme power. We can be guilty of this very thing today! We may reject the Lord and sin, then we must pay consequences for those sins. The worst consequence of sin is death, not physical, but spiritual. However, this is something that the Lord has provided for by sending Jesus to the cross. Therefore, when we are faithful Christians, we won't have to pay this penalty. So why then choose to live one more night with the frogs? If we know that we can be forgiven and we know that we can be rescued from this eternal death, why wait until tomorrow? Perhaps it is because we enjoy the sin and we don't want to give it up? Perhaps it is because we believe that we will have tomorrow? What ever the case is, we need to understand that the outcome of our tomorrow's depend on our today's! Do you want to go to Heaven? If that is the goal for your eternal future, then you must start working for it today! Be the Christian that God's desires you to be! Don't spend another night with the frogs! --David Deason Today’s
